The Real Winter...

Cold, gusty, blustery, winter gales weather finally revealed last Saturday. The cold westerly and southerly winds strike Dunedin for the whole WEEK ever since it 'showed up' it's true and real 'appearance' last Saturday, bringing icy cold showers and drizzles towards the whole city. Snow and sleet were not seen yet even though it rained for 5 days. The prediction provided by Met Service, NZ of snowing overnight all the way until Sunday was driving me into curiosity. Nevertheless, fizzy, rambunctious and flamboyant feelings planted firmly in my heart core, anticipate for the coming of the blissful and memorable event to come true. Hopefully.... The temperature in Dunedin crept pace to pace, from 12 degree Celsius to 4 degree Celsius. The cold foggy shower spells were trying to horn me, drenched, doused and soused my whole body, causing shivering to the meanest for the whole day! OR even the for the last 5 days!

'What's The Point III'- International Outreach

'What's the point 3 ' is an International service held 'once in a blue moon' at Elim Christian Centre, Dunedin, NZ. To be precise, it is held once a year. The theme for this year's event is ' FEARFULLY & WONDERFULLY MADE' which was taken from PSALM 139-'I will give thanks unto thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made'. The skits and incredible Christian songs clearly illustrate the main theme of the event. The church was gaily decorated with spot lights for this special event as shown in one of the video and photos I have taken. This meaningful event is trying to convey a message- No matter how loathe u feel of yourself, how despicable u feel, how useless u feel of yourself, how odium u feel, feeling smoulder of yourself or even envy of peers obtaining efficacious results than you, Jesus will not abandon you. You are a creation of God and WONDERFULLY MADE by the Almighty God. God has wonderful plans for you and your future. Just believe it and do not worry. The skits were amazing although some of the performers were gabbing in a claptrap manner but clarified the theme at the end of each skit. Overall, it was 'wonderfully made/performed ' and awesome as you can see their hard core work overwhelmed each of the audiences. But in the video, some audience's heads were distracting me from filming the video. I was impressed, amazed and flabbergasted by the blue lighted gloves in one of the skit as shown below even though the words made by the blue lighted gloves seemed blurry and crooked. New- Zealand First Chinese Garden

A grand opening ceremony was held on the 8th of July 2008 to celebrate the opening of Dunedin Chinese Garden. After 8 months of hard core construction, Dunedin Chinese garden is officially open to tourists as well as Kiwis. The garden is located abreast with the Railway Station, between Dunedin central city( The Octagon) and the harbourside. Dunedin Chinese Garden is New Zealand’s only Chinese Garden, and the first in the Southern Hemisphere. Great news isn't it? It was pre-fabricated in Shanghai, then dismantled and transported or fleeted here. The decent Chinese Garden is based on a late Ming, early Ching Dynasty Scholar’s Garden, traditionally the focal point of a family compound. Tens of thousands of visitors visit the garden daily according to Otago Daily Times, the web and blogs . Due to the fact that I am a penny-pinching and miserly person or a niggard or cheapskate who does not willing to spend such money just to glance through the new Chinese Garden, I managed to find some Dunedin Chinese Gardens photos via the web. Despite the garden looks kinda poky (to me) and is not as opulent as compared to those gardens in China, it is still decent looking and satisfy the requirements of being a 'CHINESE' garden such as ginormous fish pond, intricate Chinese architecture designs on the apex of the roofs and window seals, elephantine shaped rocks along the ponds, Japanese Carps or goldfishes, jade green/ ink black / snow white pebbles embedded on the surfaces of pathways, corridors and pavements, Rock gardens and etc. The entrance fee for this garden is NZ5 for students or beneficiary and NZ8 for adults. So anyway, here are the photos.

Happy birthday to me! ^^ . lol... there's nothing much happened today although it's my 17th birthday. I gadded to Hoyts Cinema at Dunedin Octagon to meet my Asian friends after savouring my lunch at Meridian Mall which is just a stone throw away from Hyots Cinema. We have a great time watching GET SMART at Hoyts Cinema. Watching movie at the cinema seriously helped me to relax my mind due to the irking nauseous I had few days ago. I found the movie quite therapeutic in mind. But as we were watching the movie, I was hacked off my my shitty cough sickness. I have not slept soundly for 2 nights and now, the effing cough was discomfited me, disrupting me from watching the movie. It was awkward indeed when i coughed spontaneously, distracting hundreds of people from watching the marvelous movie. I felt sassy and impudent towards the people who was watching the movie. Anyway, after the movie, we went to Unipol to play basketball. I played for quite some time and rested because I was in a torpor state that time. I was nervous wreck after watching the movie due to the irritating cough that prevented me from sleeping soundly in my snugly blanket for the last two nights. I felt drowsy and went back home. lol.. What a weird birthday....

This was the most terrible and queerest holiday ever!! The queasy and nauseous feelings followed me everywhere, having no mood in doing anything I intended to. Sole throat, cough and flu invaded me, as if trying to conquer my whole body, bringing me to doom's day. *cough*... Who the heck jinxed me ??!! eff.. lol... just kidding. Fantastic holiday feelings dissipated immediately and ruined completely as the irking and distinct nauseous feelings were drilling me off...

Blustering Gales

Snow commenced to thaw yesterday. Nevertheless, ratty gales blustered throughout Dunedin. The weather in Dunedin is uncertain nowadays compared to the previous years. This year, there are little snow blanket throughout Dunedin while the higher region of New- Zealand such as Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch experienced 'violent snow attack'. lol... Some State Highways were closed due to the icy and slippery conditions. It's absurd! Why does Dunedin city has the lowest snow pour-down compared to the rest of the cities of New-Zealand? lol... The blustering ice cold winds were pissing me off. To overcome this, I went to University central library to online. lol... The central library in University was the most amazing spot for study and online. Heaps of thousands of computers and spaces for study as well as the warm atmosphere were perfect to be my second home. lol....There are ample and adequate computers for university students and alumnus to do their assignments for scholastic projects. The cosy atmosphere in the central library aids me to save my house electricity too, lowering the electricity bills . lol.... At least I can 'amble' throughout the gigantic and opulent central library than apace swiftly outside due to the coldness of the surrounding.

Inter school Competition

I went to school this morning just to report myself because I was in jittery situation when my Korean friend told me that those students who didn't report themselves today will have 5 hours detention. But that's a effing scandal. I was in a stupor and flabbergasted when i saw not many students were at school this morning. Shit... We went to our indoor school hall to practise our school haka before going to Logan Park to watch the inter school competition. We had free shuttles all the way to the Logan Park but i wagged to the city and university after half and hour later. ^^. I managed to take some photos of our indoor school hall and the surroundings of Logan Park including Otago Polytechnic. Our school has a elephantine, ginormous, opulent and posh auditorium/ theatre where the school conducts assembly every Tuesday period 2 and numerous marvelous events have been conducted in this old yet elegant auditorium. (Back to the topic) I saw a helicopter landed on the apex of the roof of the Dunedin general hospital and it was my 1st time experiencing this in my real life.lol... Apart from that, gusty winds up to 140 kilometer per second is heading towards Dunedin tomorrow. Sleet, snow and shower are pouring like cats and dogs late afternoon. Fortunately, i managed to come home on time. So anyway here are those photos. Till then, Luke...

Natural Gales...

It's freaking preposterous cold today. Effing sudden ice cold breezes overnight made the whole house freezing to the max. I could not have a pleasant and cosy sleep due to the insane cold that was drilling me off. Frosts remained throughout the day in some part of the suburbs while some thawed during midday. The streets were as slippery as the ice- skating stadium in Saint Kilda, causing fatal accidents in the central city as well as the road leading towards my school.
Anyway... three more days to go.. Yippy... Actually it's two more days to go before my 2nd term break starts. Due to the oppressions at school, I planned to wag this Friday. lol... The feeling of wagging from school somehow frightened me as I always obey the school rules and regulations. *concussed*. lol...The reason of playing truant this Friday is because there will be a inter- school competition AGAIN between Otago Boy's High School and King's High School in Dunedin. This is the third inter-school competitions (between different schools) and a School sports day held at my school field starting from the beginning of the year. In spite of the peculiarity in sports, especially New Zealand renowned sport- Rugby, I might as well just wag from school. This inter-school competition will start at 10.00am- 6.00pm. This means we are not going to have any lesson this Friday. It's better to sleep at home on my comfy bed than watching rugby competition, pay scant attention to rugby matches, waiting for the 'ratty' winds to 'prone' me. lol.. Till then, Luke.

I smelt effing liberty heading towards me, creeping pace to pace towards my heart core . The oppressions of being at school for 9 weeks were driving me insane. Although I must coerce myself to go to school for another few more days before my 2nd term break starts, but... what the hell... it's only few days to go. I can definitely overcome this easily . I have anticipated for this 2 week holidays since I started my 2nd term schooling. Despite having such a preposterous mindset floating in my mind all the time, I truly could not desist and abstain it. The irresistible temptations of having results that is not efficacious enough were exasperating me, brainwashing my mind, having no mood to go to school. Anything.... What should I do during this 'blissful' winter break? Going to Queenstown to ski? lol... Neh... I'm going to Queenstown to ski during my Spring holidays which is 15 weeks thereabout countdown from now. And that's for sure. I have not plan what to do during my 2 weeks break. I will be at home alone by myself. Isn't it pitiful... lol... Peers are going vacation to Coronet Peak and Cardona hill in Queenstown to ski, ditching me alone in Dunedin. lol... Contrary to the fact of not inviting me to Queenstown, that's fine for me though. I'm not actually an extrovert type of person. I abhor socialising and going out with friends. I prefer to go out with my own beloved family. lol... That's what make me feel exuberant. Weird isn't it? lol... Till then, Luke..

It's the 7th day of Winter and it was snowing overnight! I was surprised when I woke up this morning, staring at those pure white snow surrounded my garden. I took some snow photos. Isn't it great to have a fantastic mountain views, with blanket of snow covering part of the mountain, leaving the rest of the mountain in a pristine and untouched condition, with myriads of Pine trees swaying along 120km/hr wind? It's winter! No sun, no snow, no rain, no drizzle, no showers, but there's fog. Thick dull fog surrounds the whole Dunedin city. Light wind sways 'naked' trees. Myriads of white pigeons and seagulls disappeared at once. Not even shadows were seen. Turquoise blue water at harbourside remains calm and serene, only refractions and diffractions of waves can be seen as light wind breezes along the harbourside. Temperature is gradually creeping towards 0 degree Celsius. Even though today is the 1st day of winter, it's not that freaking cold. Due to high humidity, clothings that are supposed to be dried remain wet. Stinky wet clothings must be placed in the living room because it is warmer than outside or in the glass room. so anyway, tomorrow is Queen's birthday! That's mean 1 day off! hooray!!.

1st term holiday starts today. I had anticipated for this holiday since last month. So Yeah!! It's here now.. And because it's the last day of the 1st term before 2nd term holiday starts, there are various event happened at my school. First of all, before going to school, there are snows falling around the suburb where I lived. Okay... It's not real snow, it's only 'watery ice' or sleet which haven't completely turn into snow. According to the weather forecast, there will be thunder storm in Dunedin for two days and it's temperature is in a range of 4-11 degree Celsius. But throughout the day, there is not a single thunder 'appeared' in Dunedin. It's basically only drizzle or rain plus a little 'watery snow' or sleet throughout Dunedin. Although the falling of snow took 5 minutes only, the scenery is marvellous. There is a contrast effect between the mountains around my area and the falling of snow. It's really beautiful! But the weird thing is that it snows during mid-autumn. Apart from that, Anzac Day is around the corner, which falls on the 25 of April 2008. Anzac Day is the day of remembrance for those Aussie and NZ armies who died during the World War I and II. Because Anzac Day falls during the 1st term holidays, our school had organized an Anzac Day service to commemorate those 'victims' who died in the war. This is my 1st time to celebrate such event.I find this interesting and eventful. It's nice to participate in such event as you can experience different culture in different country. The service is really fascinating as those students who take part in this service are really 'patriotic' toward their own country and our school had spend heaps of time to decorate the assembly theatre. Fortunately our school has a wonderful indoor assembly theatre which can accommodate more than 300 students. But unfortunately, I did not take photos during this service because I scared that I will lost my camera and I will be ashamed if I take some photos as students sitting around me will glare at me. Before going back home, we also watch an interesting movie called 'Man Creek'. But we did not finish the movie due to the limited time we have. We also finish earlier today compared to the previous day. So yeah.... that all the events happened throughout the day....nothing much but at least I have updated my blog.

FreAkIng CoLd!!

Well..It's not that cold at the moment. But it can be clearly shown from the weather forecast that the temperature at the southern hemisphere is gradually decreasing. For Dunedin, the temperature is creeping down to below 10 degree Celsius. At the moment, the highest temperature during the day is 14 degree Celsius thereabout while 7 degree Celsius overnight. You will feel the sudden coldness sometimes during the day as the temperature is gradually crawling down. But with a wind-breaker jacket, you will be able to cope with the decreasing temperature. It's the season of Autumn. The temperature in Dunedin is already below 15 degree Celsius. What about the next two month where the feelings of Christmas is heading toward Dunedin? How does Dunedin looks like? According to experience from my last trip to Dunedin which was around beginning of June 2007, Dunedin will be freaking super cold as the temperature is at a range of -5 to 5 degree Celsius. But the weird part is that there are more drizzle pouring over Dunedin than snow. Dunedin will only experience a small amount of snows for a few days before the thawing of snow occurs. I may not be right for this year as I cannot predict the future. Apart from that, the rapid change in world's temperature due to Greenhouse effect will affect the winter environment in Dunedin. So Yeah! I will take some Dunedin winter views photos when winter season comes, just to make some contrast between summer time and winter time in Dunedin.

NZ marking system SuCkz!!!

NZ marking system, or should I suppose to say 'Grading' system in high school SUCKZ!!! Even most students, especially Asians who studied high school in NZ said that the way NZ mark for the internal assessments are really inappropriate. For instance, when you conduct a titration experiment for your Chemistry internal assessment, you are require to measure VERY ACCURATELY. Although you obtain a consistent results for your titration, you are able to calculate correctly, you used the correct method and steps in both calculations and during conducting the experiment, you may get 'NOT ACHIEVED' for your grade. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!!!! Your calculation answers or results MUST be the same as your teacher answer. HEY!! even teacher will not get an accurate result for the titration experiment.What do you think teachers are? An angel? You don't expect teacher will measure absolutely accurate just for the sake of this assessment. WHAT THE HELL!!! On the other hand, what do you mean by the grading of 'NOT ACHIEVED', 'ACHIEVED', 'MERIT' and 'EXCELLENCE' ??? If you get an 'ACHIEVED' for you grade, what does that mean ? People will not understand which part or section do you get wrong in that assessment. Is it the method of calculation or the method of conducting the experiment or the result you obtain in the experiment that you have done wrongly? People won't know where are you weaknesses and will assume you are a totally an idiot, getting such a lousy grade for such a simple titration assessment. NZ should change the grading system into percentage where the universities in NZ and other countries are conducting it now. At least people or even you will know which part is our weaknesses. Most of the countries in the world are using percentile. Even Aussie had change into percentile for the last few years or decade. Only NZ..... is still using this lousy and ridiculous grading system......

It's really headache when thinking of what course/s are you going to study for your bright future. For me, although I still have another year to complete my high school(2009) before I enter University of Otago, I really want to make sure that I'm ready and confirm the course I have chosen by this time. But first of all, I haven't decide what course I want. T.T ... At the moment, I took accounting, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, mathematics and English as my Year 12 subjects. But then, I still haven't decide whether to choose accounting or dentistry for my future career. I really like science except physics, but I scared I cannot through dentistry because it's quite tough to enter this professional course and complete the course. Sometimes I would think in a way that accounting is so much easier to study since so many people can get through this course, so why not I just study a simple course like accounting ? But when i study accounting subject in high school, I find it hard to do and understand. There are so much to think for your future career and my main obstruction of choosing a course to study are PRESSURE and WORRY. I'm worry that I cannot manage to finish dentistry course which I prefer to study due to the pressure that exert in this course. In fact , I always have pressure in my studies since primary school. lol...Sien... But I reckon it's no harm trying the course I prefer to study, rather than choosing the course which I have no interest in it( accounting) although some people said it's easy..............................

Field Trip to Warrington Beach

Last week, 6th of March 2008, our school organised a field trip to Warrington beach, which is situated in Warrington suburb, just beside Pine hill suburb where I lived. Well, actually it's only my class who are going to Warrington beach to do some research for the achievement standard in order to get some credits for the public exam- NCEA. It's compulsory and must be done within a week in school as your internal assessment. It's about the 'Lives in rocky shore' and you need to investigate the abundance of a population that you have chosen by using transect lines and quadrats. This will further help you to enhance the understanding of the chapter about Ecosystem in our scholastic syllables. You are also required to find out the environmental factors that affect the abundance and distribution pattern of the populations. The trip was quite interesting as you are able to explore the nature of ecosystem and oraganisms or populations that are seldom seen such as sea anemones-METRIDIUM SENILE (which I am investigating), periwinkles, starfish, bull kelps, barnacles and etc. Apart from that, for those people who are staying in Dunedin for the 1st year such as me, I can have the chance to visit a new and wonderful beach in Dunedin. This makes me therapeutic in mind as I can explore something new. I'm fond in exploring new things . So yeah! Trip To QUEENSTOWN

WoW Man!! Queenstown is wonderful. Looking on top of a hill, the views are magnificently beautiful and marvelous. The mountains plus the fresh clear blue water makes Queenstown a heaven.By using a gondola to a high mountain top just like Genting Highland, there are adventurous games, such as bungy jumping, sky-diving, helicopter ride, and etc which are open throughout the year (365 days). But unfortunately the games are so expensive. During winter, tourists throughout the world will go to Cardrona Field in Queenstown to ski while enjoying the wonderful winter views around the surroundings.Queenstown is basically a tourist destination.Apart from that, there are nothing much to do. The houses in Quenstown are super damn beautiful which cost more than a million NZ dollar. From Queenstown, you can use a couch or drive to Wanaka which is another town with wonderful beach views and Milford sound or Doubtful sound which too have spectacular mountains views. NZ is really rich in nature beauty. Even the views along the road are also beautiful. Here are some photos of Queenstown and Wanaka. Here are some photos of Wanaka and Queenstown. Some of the mountains in the photos look dull due to the thawing of snow during summer season. But it will look wonderful during winter season which is falls around the month of June or July. Invercargil and Bluff.....

Last Sunday, my dad decided to bring us to Invercargil and Bluff. Invercargil is a small town which situated in the lower part of South Island of New- Zealand while Bluff is a place which is situated at the end of New- Zealand where you are able to see the peninsula of New-Zealand and Stewart Island. It took us 4 hours to reach Invercargil and another additional 1 hour to reach Bluff by our own car. WoW!! it's kinda tiring and boring during this journey but in the end there's some nice views which taken from the top of a mountain in Bluff. Fine... it's not that beautiful compared to the mountain views opposite my house or even the city views at the back of my house. 2nd Day In OtaGO BoY'S HiGh SchOOl

Everything went pretty well this two days, although the school and the environment are totally different from back home. But in NZ, or even other countries, the study life in high school is more relax compared to Malaysia. I felt quite boring though because we have 15-20 minutes break after each period and 40-60minutes lunch everyday. Moreover, we need to walk to different rooms or class every period . So, that's mean basically we will need to walk the 'whole' school every hour in order to study one subject. It's just like playing truant!! Apart from that , we have only 5 period so that's mean we have onli 5 subjects everyday. There is also a 20 minutes reading time which is compulsary for everyone.The syllables is so much easier and most of them I've learnt them before in Form 4. It's totally different from Malaysia where there's only 30 minutes break time, class is fixed for everyone and etc. So yeah! it's nice to be in overseas to gain some experience. HeY!! DUNEDIN IS ACTUALLY QUITE NICE!!!

Okay.. From the previous post, I was 'critising' Dunedin. But after the 2nd trip, I felt that dunedin is approximately the same as christchurch. The only differences between these two cities are the design of the house and the geography of the cities. As I mentioned before, Dunedin house is really run-down compared to christchurch. In Christchurch, the houses are really so much better but it's over valued. While in Dunedin, the design is really 'lousy'. How can people live in such a lousy house? The houses near University of Otago are basically nearly half a century and some are over a century... Can you believe people are still living in old Scottish design house? But luckily, we managed to buy a nice house up on a hill where there are fantastic mountain views opposite my house and it only take us 5 minutes to the university. COOL!!! The house we bought on that hill is surrounded by Chinese residents. Haha!! Okay... back to the topic.. In dunedin, most places are hilly. That's why my dad bought a house up on a hill. Fine ... most cities in New- Zealand are hilly, even Auckland and Wellington. But Christchurch is the only cities which is totally FLAT!! which is good for me to walk to school every weekdays... but nevermind. Haizzz... it's good to change new environment though.. but I still prefer Melbourne where most of my relatives are staying there.. lol..But I jus come here to study and not for the rest of my life..........

FiRST LAnDinG In NeW - ZEaLAnD

New-Zealand is a wonderful quiet place to live. for me, I would definetely prefer to live in christchurch (CHCH), rather than living in a modern and urban city, such as Auckland and Wellington or a run- down city, such as dunedin in Otago.In my opinion, Christchurch is the most suitable place to live in because it is a peaceful n serene place which suit my conditions compare to other regions in new- Zealand. I remember that when i first reached Christchurch on 1st of June 2007, i automatically fall in love with that place. The temperature in Christchurch is around 10-15 degree celcius, which suit me because i abhor hot temperature. During summer, Christchurch has a temperature around 20+ degrees celcius, which is not that hot too if compare to back home(Malaysia). Moreover, there are myriads of exotic flowers which 'covered' the whole city. It's really beautiful !Wherever you go, you will see colourful flowers around you. My dad 1st intension is to go to Dunedin in Otago(lower part of New- Zealand) , which I detest alot because it's is a run-down city.The only advantage living in Dunedin is the University, that is University of Otago which is currently the best university in New- Zealand(2007), especially medicine(heart).I reckon that's the only advantage living there.There's plenty of disadvantages living there. First of all, the surrounding is so hilly! The only place which is not hilly is the central city (Octagon) which situated at the heart of Dunedin, and also University. The house in Dunedin is totally different in back home.The house is Dunedin is in poor conditions- leaking,gutter topple down, ugly design . Yet the price is Damn freaking high.The reason why they are not willing to renovate, or knock down to build a new house is because they want to retain Scottish design. For me, it's dumb!.Apart from that, Dunedin has the most rain in New- Zealand over the year. I remember that every day, Dunedin will rain which made me wet. Moreover, the temperature during winter season is so low, yet there's no snow!It's really freezing cold to live in Dunedin. The scenery is so ugly in Dunedin. No tall buildings or towers, no malls, no everything! There only a few malls situated in the central city .so lousy!.In Christchurch, there is at least 1 mall in EVERY suburbs. That's why when my dad saw Dunedin, he rather choose Christchurch. SAME AS ME! haha..
